3rd Corporal George William GROVENSTEIN, son of Henry Lewis GROVENSTEIN, was born 5 Mar 1829. He enlisted in Company A, 2nd Battalion, Georgia Cavalry on 7 Sep 1861, at Savannah, Georgia. He was elected 3rd Corporal on 24 May 1862. George transferred to Company I, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry on 20 Jan 1863. Corporal Grovenstein was detailed to the Convalescent Horse Camp at Union Springs, Alabama, on 8 Aug 1864. George William married Cornelia Naomi METZGER on 6 Feb 1850. He died on 12 July 1879, and is buried at Jerusalem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Effingham County, Georgia. [MIL REC - GALLANT- GSAF 125 - FAM REC POLLETTE]

Shadrack Shadrach GROVENSTEIN, son of Henry Lewis GROVENSTEIN and Hannah DASHER, was born on 29 May 1821. He married Susan Catherine KIEFFER on 5 Apr 1834. He enlisted in Company I, 5th Regiment, Georgia Cavalry on 1 Aug 1863, at Savannah, Georgia. The company roll for Dec 1864, last on file, lists him as being absent, sick at Guyton General Hospital at Guyton, Georgia, since 20 Sep 1863. [MIL REC - GALLANT- FAM REC POLLETTE]
